Mary & I – A Late Bloomer’s Quest for Love

SYNOPSIS;

Mary & I – A Late Bloomer’s Quest for Love is a heartfelt documentary and the directorial debut of stand-up comedian and filmmaker, Wally Zamwa.

In this two part documentary we follow Wally, a young man from Sweden, grappling with mental health and feeling adrift in life. At 29, he discovers “Mary” (cannabis), a turning point that sparks a journey of self-discovery, healing, and purpose.

Told with the warmth, wit, and depth of a true storyteller, Mary & I transforms what begins as a search for the truth about cannabis into a decade-long exploration of self-love, ambition, and a fight to challenge Sweden’s strict drug policies.

Along the way, Wally travels to the vibrant streets of Barcelona, the scenic highs of Colorado, the diverse cityscape of Toronto, the anarchist enclave of Christiania in Copenhagen, and the liberal spirit of Amsterdam, capturing how different cultures relate to cannabis, identity, and freedom.

A deeply personal story, ten years in the making and a powerful journey worth experiencing, whether or not you’re familiar with cannabis.
